fiatrouter
This project, FiatRouter, is a Web3 product for fiat-to-crypto transactions. It’s part of a Superteam Earn design contest. With a two-day deadline, I focused on mobile-first design. My goal was to make onboarding, wallet connection, KYC, and transactions easier.
The Why
Web3 apps scare beginners away. FiatRouter’s team knew this. A potential user may arrive excited to buy tokens. But they might leave if they encounter confusing steps or hidden fees.
The pain point (hypothetical): users want speed, clarity, and reassurance. The business problem (hypothetical): without higher completion rates, the product cannot scale.
That’s where design became the lever.
Steps – The Process
I approached the redesign in three layers:
Research & Audit
reviewed the existing flow. Onboarding felt “exchange-heavy” instead of “payment-simple.”
Sketches & Wireframes
simplified the buy journey into three core steps: enter amount → confirm rates/fees → pay.
I also added inline explanations (“Why do I need KYC?”) instead of hiding them in FAQs.
Iterations & Feedback Loops
A key insight: users trusted the flow more when fees and token amounts updated live.
Prototyping & Testing
built a clickable prototype in Figma.
ran unmoderated usability tests to check the completion rate against the old flow.
Screens – The Solution
The final design was lean but intentional.
Homepage: Immediate clarity — “Buy tokens with local currency in minutes.” No jargon.
Flow: Three screens max. Clear status indicators and upfront fees.
Trust Signals: Display partner logos on the landing page. Offer easy access to support. Include helpful tooltips throughout the flow.
Mobile-first: Since most target users transact via their phones.
Each screen was to explain not only what it looked like but also why it worked.
Reflection
This project showed me that good design is about removing what's not needed, not just adding flashy parts. I removed friction from the user journey and built trust where it mattered. This made FiatRouter feel less like crypto and more like a regular payment app.
